Three Cats
Oil on Canvas: 14″ x 11″
Three Cats was a difficult assignment. I repainted one cat three times. The good news was that no feline was harmed in the execution of this painting!
Girl and her Cat
Pencil on Paper: 10″ x 8″
This was to be a 12″ x 9″ oil on canvas. As I often do an extensive pencil or charcoal rendering before starting in oil, I presented it to the client and they wanted it instead. An oil painting would not capture the scene any better.
Jack
Oil on Canvas: 20″ x 16″
Jack is one of the best-looking dogs around. He is well trained and should be at Westminster.
Anniverary Portait
Oil on Canvas: 16″ x 20″
This charming couple was painted as an anniversary gift from friends. The assignment was to show the love, joy and sea, sky and sand.
Two Dogs
Oil on Canvas: 20″ x 16″
Two dogs were originally from pencil sketches of Jack. They morphed into a very dramatic oil painting. What a treat for me to get to paint all three versions.

My Friend Ken
This is Ken my friend and local Orange County golf pro. I painted this for him so he could give it to his aunt that raised him.

Two-year-old and family dog - sibling rivalry
A delightful painting I and my client thought. The little girl refused to allow the family dog to pose with her. Sibling rivalry. I photographed the dog separately and added later.
Remington
I was quite good at replicating Remington. Hope you agree. Once even fooled an expert. I was not trying to be a forger.
Mr. Andrews
This portrait of Mr. Andrews was of Nebraska’s victory over Oklahoma. He went on to play for many years for the LA Rams.
Merle Haggard
I was commissioned by close friends of Merle Haggard. Everyone said they liked it. That’s always good!

Renowned Horse Breeder
This equestrian is a world-renowned breeder. He and his wife saw the picture of Kirk and commissioned me to paint this for them. I got a call from her and she asked me if I could paint her husband out. I asked her why? She she said that was her horse and he sold it. Fortunately, she partially forgave him and they left the painting intact. Whew!
Sister and Brother
Sometimes I revert back to my classical training for a portrait. The monotone underpainting was so good I wanted to leave it. Their momma said no.
Mick Jagger
This is scary good, I thought. The abstract background enhanced the action Mick Jagger exudes on stage. Fortunately, the client agreed.
Dear friend - late husband
This was a portrait I executed from a photo for a dear friend. It was her late husband who I had not had the pleasure of meeting.
